Rice won't give Clinton too much advice

advertisement

Happily contemplating another woman as the top U.S. diplomat, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday she will offer advice, privately, and then get out of the way.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

You can't accept that she had high praise for Hillary and leave it at that?

I think what she was saying in her speech was that she would bring Hillary up to date, and then get out of the way. You're reading something into the headlines.

Let's just take a look at why she got the job in the first place! What a joke. The woman didn't and still doesn't know diddily squat.  Defend her if you will, but better yet, tell us why she isn't an embarrassment!

Rice was not able to bring peace between the Palestinians & Israel because of two reasons: 1)AIPAC and 2) Israel government plan to take over the West Bank by slowly ethnic cleansing of Palestinians of their land.

Rice was and still is an empty suit. I think she was GIVEN (not earned) a position that exceed her level of competence. I don't dislike her, I just don't think she has any relevant information to provide to Hillary that would benefit this country. Can anyone suggest any major accomplishments during her tenure?

And before you go calling me a racist, I am a black American.

        Obama's accomplishments:

Wilberta, you just won't let your brain catch up to your mouth will you? How do you KNOW that Hillary will be a better Sec of State than Rice. I thought Rice did an excellent job in the short time she was there. How do you know Rice's hands were bound by Bush. Did you work for her? Do you know her personally? Who told you her hands were bound. They looked pretty "unbound" on TV today! I think she is a smart lady and you are doing her a disservice by castigating her.

By the way, I have read a lot of your comments in many Vine opines, and I picked up on the fact that in another Vine blog that you were an educator.  I hope you were not an English teacher, because you should really use spell check.

I glad you are not in a position to govern this country....If you read the entire post, you would have noticed ...the Few questioning my use of the Standard American English and asking for a lesson...well I gave him one on.

No matter what anybody wants to say about our government, the Bush Administration has really done a very fine job with this transition.   It has been done in a cordial manner, very supportive, and with class.  Please, let's give "some credit" where credit is due.

We are in transition, and in a very short time we will have a new President.  It's time to stop the bickering, and focus on moving our country forward.  Geez, when I read some of these posts, it's like people feel they just got a divorce.  Viciousness and harboring grudges solves nothing.  So, get over it, and move on ;)

trco- When Rice was National Security Adviser in 2003, She was one of the main ones pushing for war with Iraq on the premise of WMDs, She probably knew they did not exist, but she pushed for war anyway, as that is what the Administration wanted. The reason I think she is a embarrassment is because she puts her party first instead of her country first.

Care to back up your claims that she knew about the WMDs? I could sit here and name all kinds of things that may have or may not have happened. If I were to come on here and claim that Clinton knew about the terrorist presence pre-9/11 you'd probably be the first on howling that it's slander and unprovable.

You have no facts, just a really poor attempt at twisting what isn't even there.

And so were members of Congress; you need to read the speeches from both Democrats and Republicans.  Even former President Clinton warned Bush that Hussein was a problem.  Some facts:

            From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War#Presidential_involvement

"Clinton briefed President-elect George W. Bush in December 2000, expressing his regret that the world's two most dangerous individuals, including Saddam, were still at large. He warned that Saddam will "cause you a world of problems."

            Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.)

"According to the CIA's report, all U.S. intelligence experts agree that Iraq is seeking nuclear weapons. There is little question that Saddam Hussein wants to develop nuclear weapons."

            ·  Congressional Record, October 9, 2002

            ------

            Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.)

"In the four years since the inspectors, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capability to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

            ·  Congressional Record, October 10, 2002

            Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.)

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.”

            ·  Remarks at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, October 27, 2002

            President Bill Clinton

"In the next century, the community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now - a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists, drug traffickers, or organized criminals who travel the world among us unnoticed. If we fail to respond today, Saddam, and all those who would follow in his footsteps, will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the United Nations Security Council, and clear evidence of a weapons of mass destruction program."

            ·  Remarks at the Pentagon , February 17, 1998

            Secretary Of State Madelyn Albright

"Countering terror is one aspect of our struggle to maintain international security and peace. Limiting the dangers posed by weapons of mass destruction is a second. Saddam Hussein's Iraq encompasses both of these challenges.”

            ·  Remarks at the American Legion Convention, New Orleans, La., August 9, 1998

WMD Fact:  Saddam was amasing yellowcake uranium of which 550 metric tons were recently removed from Iraq and sold to Canada.

I have many more FACTS.  Would you like to see them?

"She possesses an extraordinary intelligence and toughness, and a remarkable work ethic," Obama said in making it official. "She is an American of tremendous stature who will have my complete confidence, who knows many of the world's leaders, who will command respect in every capital and who will clearly have the ability to advance our interests around the world."

I have always admired Secretary Rice for her intelligence, work ethic, toughness, bluntness and ability to stand up to any man. She has tirelessly advanced the interests of America. Hopefully, Hillary Clinton will do the same. I think she will do an excellent job.

I think that President Bush was a bright point.  History will be kind to this man.  I, for one, am thankful that he was the president post 9/11 and that in seven years, the war on terror has been conducted in someone else's backyard.
